Q:   Youve probably had the opportunity to interview and hire a lot of people during your career. A telecommuting job interview is often done over the phone. Do you have advice for handling a phone job interview? A:   Realize that your interviewer is looking to see if you two “click,” something that’s much harder to do when your conversation isn’t happening in person. Show authentic enthusiasm and convey knowledge of the company and its goals and culture, as well as provide specific examples of why you’re a good fit,  and how you thrive on working independently. Certainly also make sure that you’ve set up a good time and place to talk with your potential employer without distractions. If you can’t manage to do this, it doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence that you’ll manage your time wisely without constant supervision.
